Ποιμαντική παρουσία Σεβασμιωτάτου (Δεκ 2024-Φεβρ. 2025) | His Eminence's pastoral presence (Dec 2024-Feb 2025)

Προ της ενάρξεως των εορτών του Αγίου Δωδεκαημέρου, ο Σεβ. Ποιμενάρχης μας εδέχθη αλληλοδιαδόχως στην Έδρα  του, την Α.Μ. τον Βασιλέα Συμεών της Βουλγαρίας και πρώην Πρωθυπουργό της χώρας και την Εξοχ. Πρέσβη της Ελλάδος κα Αγλαΐα Μπαλτά επί τη αναλήψει των καθηκόντων αυτής στο Βασίλειο της Ισπανίας.  

Χάριτι Θεού εορτάστηκαν στην Ιερά Μητρόπολη Ισπανίας και Πορτογαλίας οι εορτές του Αγίου Δωδεκαημέρου κατά τη διάρκεια του οποίου ο Σεβ. Μητροπολίτης ετέλεσε τις Ιερές ακολουθίες στον Ορθόδοξο Καθεδρικό Ναό της Μαδρίτης εν πληθούσει εκκλησία.

Την 18^η Ιανουαρίου, ο Σεβασμιώτατος ευλόγησε την αγιοβασιλόπιτα της Ελληνικής αντιπροσωπευτικής αεροπορικής δυνάμεως της στρατιωτικής βάσεως του ΝΑΤΟ στο Torrejon κατόπιν προσκλήσεως του αναπληρωτού Διοικητού της βάσεως Ταξιάρχου (Ι) κου Αβραάμ Καζαντζόγλου.

Την 24^η Ιανουαρίου, στο πλάισιο της Εβδομάδος προσευχής για την ενότητα των Χριστιανών, εδέχθη στον Ορθόδοξο Καθεδρικό ναό της Μαδρίτης τους εκπροσώπους των Χριστιανικών ομολογιών όπου μετείχαν στην κοινή εσπερινή προσευχή.

Την επομένη, 25^η μετέβη στον Ρ/Κ Καθερδικό ναό της Μαδρίτης, Santa María la Real de la Almudena, όπου κατόπιν προτροπής του Σεβ. Καρδιναλίου José Cobo, αρχιεπισκόπου Μαδρίτης, εκύρηξε τον θείο λόγο.

Την 26^η Ιανουαρίου, ο Σεβασμιώτατος μετέβη στην πόλη του Albacete και την εκείσε στρατιωτική αεροπορική βάση Los Llanos, όπου συμμετείχε στην επιμνημόσυνο τελετή των θυμάτων του θανατηφόρου δυστυχήματος του Ιανουαρίου 2015, όπου δύο Έλληνες πιλότοι και 9 Γάλλοι, προσωπικό εδάφους έχασαν την ζωή τους.

Η τελετή διοργανώθηκε από τις Ισπανικές, Ελληνικές και Γαλλικές στρατιωτικές αρχές με την συμμετοχή της εξοχ. Πρέσβεως της Ελληνικής Δημοκρατίας στο Βασίλειο της Ισπανίας κας Αγλαΐας Μπαλτά, του απερχομένου Εξοχ. Πρέσβεως της Γαλλικής Δημοκρατίας κου Jean-Michel Casa και του Κυβερνήτη του Albacete Manuel Serrano López 

Την Κυριακή 02 Φεβρουαρίου, εορτή της Υπαπαντής του Κυρίου, ο Σεβασμιώτατος εδέχθη όμιλο προσκυνητών  εκ του Ι.Ν. Εαγγελιστρίας της Ι. Μ. Πειραιώς της Εκκλησίας της Ελλάδος με επί κεφαλής τον αιδεσιμολ. Πρωτ. π. Γεώργιο Γεωργακόπουλο, ο οποίος τη προτροπή του Σεβ. Μητροπολίτου ετέλεσε την Θεία Λειτουργία στον Ιερό Καθεδρικό Ναό της Μαδρίτης. Τον όμιλο δεξιώθηκε κατόπιν ο Σεβασμιώτατος στην αίθουσα της Μητροπόλεως ενημερώνοντάς τους προσκυνητές για την ζωή, τη δράση και τις προκλήσεις της Ορθοδόξου μαρτυρίας στην Ιβηρική.  

Την 6^η Φεβρουαρίου, τον Σεβασμιώτατο εκπροσώπησε ο πανοσιολ. Αρχιμαδρίτης π. Θεοφύλακτος Βίτσος, πρωτοσύγκελος της Μητροπόλεως στην τελετή αναγόρευσης επιτίμου διδάκτορος του Σεβ. Καρδιναλίου Kurt Koch,  προέδρου του Ποντιφικού Συμβουλίου για την Προώθησης της Χριστιανικής Ενότητας, στο Καθολικό πανεπιστήμιο του Αγίου Βικεντίου στην Βαλένθια.

 

Την Τσικνοπέμπτη, 20 Φεβρουαρίου, ο Σεβ. Ποιμενάρχης μας, ανταποκρινόμενος στην τιμητική πρόσκληση της Εξοχ. Πρέσβεως της Ελλάδος κας Αγλαΐας Μπαλτά ετέλεσε τον αγιασμό  και στην συνέχεια ευλόγησε την αγιοβασιλόπιτα της Πρεσβείας της Ελληνικής Δημοκρατίας στο Βασίλειο της Ισπανίας.

Before the beginning of the Holy Twelve Days celebrations, His Eminence Our Bishop received reciprocally in his See, H.M. King Simeon of Bulgaria and former Prime Minister of the country and hew Exelency the Ambassador of Greece Mrs. Aglaia Balta on her assumption of her duties in the Kingdom of Spain.  

By the grace of God, the Holy Metropolis of Spain and Portugal celebrated the feast of the Holy Twelve Day, during which His Eminence the Metropolitan celebrated the Sacred Ceremonies in the Orthodox Cathedral of Madrid in a crowded church.

On January 18, His Eminence he blessed the pie of Saint Basil (vasilopita) of the Greek representative air force of the NATO military base in Torrejon at the invitation of the Deputy Commander of the base, Brigadier General  Mr. Avraam Kazantzoglou.

On 24 January, in the context of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, he received in the Orthodox Cathedral of Madrid the representatives of the Christian denominations who participated in the joint evening prayer. 

The following day, the 25th, he went to the R/C Cathedral of Madrid, Santa María la Real de la Almudena, where, at the urging of His Eminence Cardinal José Cobo, Archbishop of Madrid, he preached the Divine Word. 

On January 26th, His Eminence went to the city of Albacete and the Los Llanos military air base, where he participated in the memorial service for the victims of the fatal accident of January 2015, where two Greek pilots and 9 French ground personnel lost their lives. The ceremony was organized by the Spanish, Greek and French military authorities with the participation of H.E. the Ambassador of Greece mrs Aglaia Balta, H.E. Ambassador of the French Republic Mr. Jean-Michel Casa and the Governor of Albacete Manuel Serrano López 

On Sunday 02 February, the feast of the Lord's Presentation to the Temple, His Eminence received a group of pilgrims from the Sacred Chunrh of the Annunciation of the Holy Mother of the Holy Metropolis of Piraeus of the Church of Greece, headed by Rev. Prot. f. Georgios Georgakopoulos, who, with the encouragement of the Metropolitan, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Holy Cathedral of Madrid. The group was then received by His Eminence in the hall of the Metropolis, informing the pilgrims about the life, activity and challenges of Orthodox witness in Iberia.  

On February 6, His Eminence was represented by His Eminence the Rev. Archimandrite Fr. Theophylactos Vitsos, Chancelor of the Metropolis, at the ceremony of the conferral of an honorary doctorate on His Eminence cardinal Kurt Koch, President of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of Christian Unity, at the Catholic University of St. Vincent in Valencia. 

On Maundy Thursday, February 20, His Eminence Our Bishop, responding to the honorary invitation of H.E. the Ambassador of Greece, Mrs. Aglaia Balta, he performed the Ceremony of the blessing the water and then blessed the Saints Basil Pie of the Embassy of the Hellenic Republic in the Kingdom of Spain.

Beloved spiritual children in the Lord,

Three years have passed since the unjust and devastating invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation. During this time, countless lives have been lost, homes destroyed, and entire communities displaced. Families remain separated, cities lie in ruins, and millions have been forced into exile. This war has left deep wounds—not only upon the land but also in the hearts of those who suffer.

As we gather in prayer in this Holy Temple, the spiritual home of the Ukrainian-speaking faithful in this City, we reaffirm the unwavering solidarity of the Mother Church of Constantinople with Ukraine. From the outset, we have condemned this aggression, supported Ukraine’s sovereignty, and spoken against imperial ambitions that have no place in today’s world. The Holy Great Church of Christ cannot remain indifferent when injustice prevails.

We pray for those who have perished, for the grieving, the wounded, and the displaced who long for home. We recall today’s Gospel, reminding us that we serve Christ in serving the suffering, the exiled, and the imprisoned. God does not forget refugees who have lost their homes, families who have been torn apart, and those in captivity. We lift our hearts for children taken from their homes and prisoners of war. May the Lord give solace to their loved ones, sustain them, and bring about their safe return.

Ukraine has endured immense hardship, including the Holodomor, the artificial famine that led to millions of deaths. The people of these historical lands have suffered persecution and systematic attempts to erase their identity. Yet, through every trial, they have remained steadfast, preserving their faith, language, and culture. Today, Ukraine once again fights not only for its territorial integrity but for its very existence.

No force can extinguish the spirit of a people who refuse to be broken. No nation has the right to impose its will upon another, and no power can erase a people’s history. Ukraine’s sovereignty is not up for debate, nor can it be negotiated away under the guise of diplomacy.

As we continue to entreat our Lord to guide the leaders to find peace, we recognize that true peace cannot be dictated by force or external whims. This process must include Ukraine as an equal participant, affirm its right to exist without fear, and bring healing to a land devastated by combat. We acknowledge the tireless efforts of President Zelenskyy for the defence and protection of Ukraine’s sovereignty and integrity.

The international community must not look away or be deceived by false narratives and disinformation. It must not allow oppression to persist or accept compromises that undermine fundamental rights. The future must be built on the firm ground of international law, self-determination, and mutual respect—not coercion and submission.

Today, according to the Orthodox Church’s calendar, we commemorate the Last Judgment. This day reminds us that our deeds matter—that we are accountable for how we respond to affliction, wrongdoing, and tyranny. The war in Ukraine is not merely a conflict between nations; it is a moral test for Europe and the entire world. It demands a choice between truth and deception, between justice and oppression. The decisions made today will shape history, determining whether integrity prevails, or cruelty and hate persist.

As we prepare for Holy and Great Lent, a season of reflection and spiritual renewal, we pray for a renewed commitment to truth, reconciliation, and peace. Just as Christ’s Resurrection follows His Passion, so too do we believe that Ukraine will rise again, that the darkness of war will not endure, and that the light of righteousness will shine anew.

The Ecumenical Patriarchate remains steadfast in its commitment to Ukraine and its pious people. While hoping for a swift end to the conflict, and the healing of the wounded, we will continue to speak the truth, advocate for justice, and stand beside those who suffer. We anticipate the day when Ukraine and all nations may live in peace, security, and liberty.

May the Lord bless Ukraine with strength and perseverance. May He comfort those who mourn, heal those afflicted, and bring freedom to the captives. May He guide all humanity toward a future where virtue prevails, truth is honoured, and harmony becomes a reality.

Улюблені духовні діти в Господі,

Минає три роки з часу несправедливої та руйнівної агресії Російської Федерації проти України. За цей час загинули незліченні життя, зруйновано домівки, цілі громади були змушені залишити рідні місця. Сім’ї залишаються розділеними, міста лежать у руїнах, а мільйони людей змушені шукати притулок у вигнанні. Ця війна залишила глибокі рани не лише на землі, а й у серцях тих, хто страждає.

Збираючись у молитві в цьому Святому Храмі — духовному домі україномовних вірних у цьому місті, ми знову підтверджуємо непохитну солідарність Матері-Церкви Константинополя з Україною. Від самого початку ми засуджували цю агресію, підтримували суверенітет України та виступали проти імперських амбіцій, які не мають місця у сучасному світі. Свята Велика Христова Церква не може залишатися байдужою, коли панує несправедливість.

Молимося за тих, хто загинув, за скорботних, поранених і переміщених осіб, які прагнуть повернутися додому. Пригадуємо сьогоднішнє Євангеліє, яке нагадує нам, що служачи стражденним, вигнаним і ув’язненим, ми служимо самому Христу. Бог не забуває біженців, які втратили свої домівки, сім’ї, які були розлучені, і тих, хто перебуває в полоні. Підносимо наші молитви за дітей, яких забрали з рідних осель, та за військовополонених. Нехай Господь дарує утіху їхнім близьким, зміцнить їх та сприятиме їхньому безпечному поверненню.

Україна пережила величезні випробування, включаючи Голодомор — штучний голод, що призвів до мільйонів смертей. Народ цих історичних земель зазнавав переслідувань і систематичних спроб знищити його ідентичність. Але, попри всі випробування, він залишився непохитним, зберігаючи свою віру, мову та культуру. Сьогодні Україна знову бореться не лише за свою територіальну цілісність, а й за саме своє існування.

Жодна сила не може загасити дух народу, який відмовляється скоритися. Жодна нація не має права нав’язувати свою волю іншій, і жодна влада не може стерти історію народу. Суверенітет України не є предметом для обговорення, його не можна віддати чи втратити під приводом дипломатичних поступок.

Продовжуючи благати Господа спрямувати лідерів до знаходження миру, ми усвідомлюємо, що справжній мир не може бути нав’язаний силою або зовнішніми примусами. Цей процес має включати Україну як рівноправного учасника, підтвердити її право на існування без страху та сприяти зціленню землі, спустошеної війною. Ми визнаємо невтомні зусилля Президента Зеленського у захисті та збереженні суверенітету та територіальної цілісності України.

Міжнародна спільнота не повинна відвертатися або піддаватися дезінформації. Вона не має дозволяти продовження гноблення чи приймати компроміси, що підривають фундаментальні права. Майбутнє має будуватися на міцному ґрунті міжнародного права, самовизначення та взаємоповаги — а не на примусі та підкоренні.

Сьогодні, за календарем Православної Церкви, ми вшановуємо Останній Суд. Цей день нагадує нам, що наші вчинки мають значення — що ми відповідальні за те, як реагуємо на страждання, беззаконня та тиранію. Війна в Україні — це не просто конфлікт між націями; це моральне випробування для Європи та всього світу. Воно вимагає вибору між правдою і брехнею, між справедливістю і гнобленням. Рішення, ухвалені сьогодні, визначатимуть хід історії, вирішуючи, чи переможе чесність, чи продовжаться жорстокість і ненависть.

Готуючись до Святої і Великої Чотиридесятниці — часу роздумів і духовного оновлення, молімося за відновлення відданості істині, примиренню та миру. Так само, як Воскресіння Христове слідує за Його Страстями, так і ми віримо, що Україна відродиться, що темрява війни не триватиме вічно, і що світло праведності засяє знову.

Вселенський Патріархат залишається непохитним у своїй відданості Україні та її благочестивому народу. Сподіваючись на швидке завершення конфлікту та зцілення поранених, ми продовжимо говорити правду, відстоювати справедливість і стояти поруч із тими, хто страждає. Очікуємо того дня, коли Україна та всі народи зможуть жити в мирі, безпеці та свободі.

Нехай Господь благословить Україну силою і витривалістю. Нехай Він утішить тих, хто в скорботі, зцілить уражених та дарує свободу полоненим. Нехай Він провадить усе людство до майбутнього, де панує чеснота, шанується правда і втілюється гармонія.
