In the morning of Sunday the 4th of August 2019, with the blessing and in representation of His Eminence Polycarp, Metropolitan Archbishop of Spain and Portugal and Exarch of the Mediterranean Sea (Ecumenical Patriarchate), The Most Reverend Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne Demetrius (Sáez), Vicar General, paid a courtesy visit to The Right Reverend Carmel Zammit, Roman Catholic Bishop of Gibraltar, in the premises of the Cathedral of Saint Mary the Crowned, Mother Church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Gibraltar.
During their interview, which took place in an atmosphere of brotherly love, Mons. Carmel and Archimandrite Demetrius discussed issues of common interest and talked about the general state of the Roman Catholic and Orthodox Churches.
At the end of the visit, Archimandrite Demetrius presented Monsignor Carmel with a beautiful pectoral Cross in Byzantine style.
